Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club – Round 8 Race Report
For once dry weather was on the cards for both Saturday Practice and Race Sunday. With several championships to be decided it was going to be a great weekends racing for the drivers and spectators alike. First up were the Libre cadets and Izaac Channing and Alex Quinn immediately set about staking their claim to the title with Channing taking the first 2 heat wins and Quinn taking the third. In the final, despite being quick off the line, Quinn got past Channing on lap 3 and held on to take the chequered flag. Ari White was third. In the Minimax class, Connor Hall dominated taking all three heats and the final. It was almost a similar theme in the Junior Blues as Ryan Edgecombe took 2 heat wins to Ben Pearsons 1. In the final, Edgecombe came out on top to take the win. The Junior Rotax boys put on a show with 3 different winners across the heats. James Johnson, Sam Morgan and Tyler Weedon all taking wins to keep their title hopes alive. In the final, pole sitter, Peter Saxby was untroubled from the lights and behind him Weedon and James Moorcroft rounded off the podium. Next up were the Senior Rotax class and Stewart Baker was again dominant taking 2 heat wins and the final with consummate ease. Behind him were James Clarkson and Gemma Batstone. It was a similar state of affairs in a rejuvenated 177 class with 16 drivers swelling the grid. Matt Isgrove was peerless taking all three heats and the final with Darren Lane moving through the pack to take second with Wayne Stone taking the last step on the podium. Last up were the 250N boys and visiting driver, Roy Bennett was quick to show the locals how it’s done by winning the first 2 heats. However, heat 3 and the final were won by another visitor, Jack Love who battled through the field from 6th to take the flag. Jack Packer and Ash Goodliffe rounded off the podium. With the points being added up and dropped scores being taken into account the final championships standings will be published in the next edition of Karting magazine!
