SW Champs is going upmarket
Good news for the SW Champs, we will now have a fully stocked and licenced bar for the saturday night....purely to enhance the Karaoke enjoyment for all (or to block it out for some). So there is no need to weight yourselves down with cans as the bar prices are going to be very competitive. Good luck to everyone during the SW Champs and enjoy.
 
 
July 2010 Race Report

June 2010 Race Report

For the first race weekend the weather on Saturday was the same on Sunday which meant the testing completed by the 84 drivers contesting round 5 of the Dunkeswell Championship would have been time well spent.

May 2010 Race Report

There was fog, wind and rain, lots of rain, during the Saturday practice for round 4 of the Dunkeswell Kart Club Championship held at the superb Mansell Raceway, nr Honiton.  The drivers who had gathered to compete found themselves battling the elements as well as the track and wondering what to do with set ups as the weather for race day was forecast to be warm and dry!  Much to the relief of all the competitors, it was warm and dry and promised to be a great day to go racing.

April 2010 Race Report
Over 100 drivers from all over the country and as far afield as Guernsey enjoyed a glorious Saturday practice at the Mansell Raceway, nr Honiton. Unfortunately, it made the weather for race day come as a bit of a surprise as tee shirts were covered up with fleeces and shorts swapped for longs!

March 2010 Race Report
75 drivers gathered at the South West’s premier circuit at Dunkeswell to contest Round 2 of the Club Championship. The weather, as usual, was going to have a major influence in the proceedings and whilst Saturdays practice was overcast but dry, the forecast for Sunday was Malaysian style deluges! However, Dunkeswells unique micro climate saw race day dawning dull but dry but that didn’t stop mechanics checking that the wet tyres were in easy reach! In use for the first time and new to many of the drivers,  were the tramlines for fairer race starts. At the driver briefing clear guidance was given regarding their use as well as the enforcement of dry clutches with the Clerk of the Course promising severe penalties on offer for transgressors.

February 2010 Race Report
Drivers from across the whole of the West Country braved the inclement February weather that settled over Devon’s premier race circuit to contest the opening round of the 2010 karting season. With Saturday practice run mostly in the wet with occasional hail shower, there was not much to be gained in set ups. Sunday was meant to be much of the same but in true Dunkeswell style the weather at the circuit was nothing like the forecast had predicted which caused problems as the track dried out a slow rate. In addition to the usual classes raced at the circuit there was a welcome return of the Junior Blue and TKM classes after being AWOL for a few seasons.

October Race Report
With a few titles already in the bag, some drivers dropped out of the final round of the 2009 Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club Championship, leaving 93 drivers to make the most of the unseasonal warm and dry October weather. First up were the cadet heats and Izaac Channing and Connor Hall battled it out with Channing taking two wins to Halls one. James Chubb had a strong showing with a second and third place in heats 2 and 3. Kyle Petricca scored a solid third place in heat 1.

September Race Report
100 drivers descended on the South West’s premier circuit to contest the penultimate round of the 2009 club championship. The weather for once played ball and gave the competitors a dry track for the whole weekend for a change. The heats were hard fought and in the cadets, Bradley Drowne took the first with Ryan Anderton taking heats 2 and 3.

South West Championships Race Report
The August Bank Holiday weekend saw the year’s biggest celebration of karting in the West Country with the South West Championships being hosted by Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club at the awesome Mansell Raceway circuit, near Honiton Devon. This annual karting extravaganza attracts drivers from all over the country and always boasts massive grids in the classes being contested. This year was no different with 140 drivers vying for the coveted title of South West Champion.
